Tuesday 9th January 2018 – Annual General Meeting was held at 7:30pm at Tynedale Cricket Club, Hexham.

Tuesday 6th February 2018 – Open Meeting was held at 7:30pm at Tynedale Cricket Club, Hexham. Chris Wren gave a presentation entitled “Looking at bees through a camera lens”.

Tuesday 6th March 2018 – Open Meeting planned for this date was cancelled due to bad weather. This was re-scheduled for 3 April 2018.

Tuesday 3rd April 2018 – Open Meeting was held at 7:30pm at Tynedale Cricket Club, Hexham. This took the form of a Question Time panel of experts to field questions from the audience and share their experiences.

Saturday 21st April 2018 – Northern Beekeepers’ Convention – The 61st Annual Convention ‘Inspiring Northern Beekeepers’ was held at Newcastle College, Rye Hill, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7SA.

Sunday 22nd April 2018 – A Frame Making Session was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at Wall Village Hall.

Sunday 6th May 2018 – Open Apiary Meeting was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam Apiary combined with the first Beginners Session #1 of the season. The meeting focussed on First Inspections of the colonies in the apiary.

Sunday 20th May 2018 – Beginners’ Session #2 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Monday 28th May 2018 – Northumberland County Show – HBKA provided a stand with an observation hive and honey for sale. There was the usual high level of interest from the public throughout a very successful day.

Sunday 3rd June 2018 – Open Apiary Meeting was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam Apiary.

Sunday 10th June 2018 – Beginners’ Session #3 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 17th June 2018 – Beginners’ Session #4 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 24th June 2018 – Cherryburn BeeFest was held at Cherryburn, Station Bank, Mickley, Stocksfield NE43 7DD.

Sunday 24th June 2018 – Beginners’ Session #5 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 1st July 2018 – Open Apiary Meeting was held at Philip Latham’s apiary near Riding Mill which focused on queen rearing and Philip’s preferred approach to colony management.

Sunday 8th July 2018 – Beginners’ Session #6 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 15th July 2018 – Beginners’ Session #7 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 22nd July 2018 – Beginners’ Session #8 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 5th August 2018 – Open Apiary Meeting was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the shared apiary at Slaley.

Saturday 11th August 2018 – Slaley Show was held between 10:00am and 5:00pm and HBKA participated.

Sunday 12th August 2018 – Beginners’ Session #9 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Sunday 19th August 2018 – Beginners’ Session #10 was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam apiary.

Saturday 25th August 2018 – Bellingham Show was held between 10:00am and 5:00pm and HBKA participated.

Monday 27th August 2018 – Blanchland Show was held between 10:00am and 5:00pm and HBKA participated.

Saturday 1st September 2018 – Corbridge Village Show was held between 2:00pm and 4:30pm and HBKA participated.

Sunday 2nd September 2018 – Open Apiary Meeting was held between 2:00pm and 4:00pm at the Wylam Apiary on the theme of ‘Preparing Bees for the Winter’.

Sunday 7th October 2018 – The Rachel Lowther Lecture was delivered by Dr Dorian Pritchard who presented a talk entitled “Geordie Bees Bite the Mite”. A full house enjoyed an excellent discussion on the merits of treating for varroa (or rather not treating) followed by a delicious tea served by the Wall WI.

Tuesday 6th November 2018 – Open Meeting was held at 7:30pm at Tynedale Cricket Club, Hexham.

• Robyn Franklin shared her experiences as a participant at this year’s International Meeting of Young Beekeepers.
• James Gardner, Senior Nurse Consultant in Allergy and Immunology from the RVI, gave a presentation on Bee Sting Immunotherapy.

Tuesday 11th December 2018 – Annual Christmas Dinner was held at the Beaumont Hotel, Beaumont St, Hexham NE46 3LT.
