About HBKA
HBKA’s purpose is the encouragement, improvement and advancement of beekeeping in Hexham and the surrounding districts.
We support a current membership of about 180 beekeepers with a range of training and education opportunities (both formal and informal) aimed at achieving best practice in maintaining healthy bee colonies. We work collaboratively with our neighbouring Associations to share learning and promote beekeeping events across the North East and Cumbria.
We also aim to provide advice and guidance to the general public in order to promote awareness of honeybees and to answer specific queries.
On these pages you will find information about the association and both the joys and importance of beekeeping. Whether you are new to our craft, or an old hand, a local member or visiting from afar, we hope you’ll find these pages useful. Read more about HBKA Past and HBKA Present.
Hexham and District Beekeepers’ Association is a registered Charity (Number 515968) and a member of the British Beekeepers’ Association (BBKA). A copy of our Constitution is available here.
